Our intent at WSTP is to grow great teachers. The WSTP core training programme has at its heart, a desire to produce exceptional teachers who are passionate about their subject. We believe in an entitlement to intellectually robust teacher training and support the development of this.
Our aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that delivers the toolkit required to transition to Early Career and beyond. Using the pedagogical principles rooted in Rosenshine and Making Every Lesson Count we embed the knowledge and ethos throughout.
It is intended to support the development of the whole child and thus provide a range of key transferable skills and knowledge that will enable them to reach their full potential.
WSTP offers experienced and expert teachers, delivering bespoke training provisions for the cohort. The training is delivered in our new training suite at Poole High School and offers a chance to use learning and discuss with peers. The training is coupled with in school training and placements are across two of our partner schools. Mentors meet with trainees once a week to evaluate progress towards both pedagogical and mentor agreed targets.
