The Wessex Schools Training Partnership (WSTP) is a School Centered accredited provider of Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), with Poole High School as its lead school and it is offering places for secondary level training through School Direct . Applications are made to the SCITT and placements are chosen from the partnership schools that we work with to provide the most suitable training for our trainees.
The purpose of our training is to equip a person with the skills to work in any one of our secondary schools in the area and in particular in the partnership when vacancies arise.
What does the training involve?
WSTP offers ‘on the job’ training through a well structured programme that has been designed around gaining classroom experience in two different schools within the partnership. WSTP will secure your school placements within the partnership schools and provide a laptop for the duration of the training.
In addition to the classroom experience, the training is supported by professionals, who through a series of seminars and tutorials will help trainees to develop the skills to teach effectively. Each trainee will be assigned their own mentor who will guide the trainee through the course. Also visiting tutors will provide additional pedagogic support and advice through formal observations and feedback sessions.
The training programme and the outcomes will be moderated by the Bath Spa University to ensure consistency of provision.
