All applications need to be through the DfE’s new Apply Service or through the UCAS web site

We offer training in a wide range of secondary subjects – Business Studies, Maths, all Science subjects, MFL, Music, English, Geography, History, Art, PE, RE, Psychology. This varies from year to year depending on the capacity to train in the partnership.

We also offer the assessment only route to unqualified teachers who are already employed in schools.This is a 12 week option and is particularly attractive to those who have worked or trained overseas. Contact WSTP@poolehigh.poole.sch.uk for details.

You will need a certificate from NARIC UK.

You are no longer required to take skills tests before the start of the course but we will be testing your Maths and English at interview stage to ensure you have the necessary level. If we feel you need support in these areas, we will put additional support during the course to ensure these are at the necessary level by the time you qualify.

The best way is to apply to a secondary school for a post as a Teaching Assistant (TA) or a cover supervisor.These are advertised locally. Otherwise we can arrange school experience days within the partnership for you. Contact our administrator for details. In addition you may find the school experience programme useful. You need to contact the examination board or university and obtain a replacement.There will be a fee for this but we do need to see original copies.

We do consider applicant with lower degrees from time to time but their application must be strong in other areas- like school experience. We will usually also require that the applicant completes a subject knowledge enhancement course before the training commences.

These are modular usually online courses of 8,12,16,26 weeks duration that enable applicants to update/develop their expertise in the subject they wish to teach.We have found them to be very useful . Make sure you read more about these courses on the Get into Teaching website.
